    Pearl Chain

It is a contemporary piece, Pattye. Lin Cheung does a lot of rereading of traditional jewelry and here she reinterprets the pearl necklace and the traditional chain. The pearls are carved into the links. Obviously, some of the links have to be cut open and then glued (I guess) back after...

Carved pearl chain by Lin Cheung - aye or nay?

    Boyfriends Heirloom Pearls

They look to be a nice size - 8.5-9mm perhaps? And definitely restring them. You can see that the silk is stretched out in the picture and the finishing on the clasp attachment could be better. It looks like a jump ring held on just by the silk, which can lead to wear on the last pearl and on...

Pearls and Cameos - A Great Combination

Ugh - this is one of my pet hatreds. No salesperson should ever scoff at anything they have in inventory (why do they carry it, after all?) and specially not when a customer shows interest in it. I don't care if it is the cheapest thing they carry, if it is all the customer can afford or if they...

I don't have a wrist shot (no one needs to see my ugly arms) but here it is closed. The toggle will only enter the small loop area if it is turned 90 degrees (so that it lines up with the bracelet), so it doesn't accidentally open.

Pearls and Cameos - A Great Combination

That face is really something - so expressive! It really should be set into a fantastic necklace.

I've never had a box clasp come undone either and top quality ones have safety catches.

Elastic can be knotted just like silk (ok, it is actually fiddly to get a nice tight knot without over stretching it). I usually string pearls on doubled elastic and knot between pearls.Even if one strand breaks, everything is still secure. There are locking toggle clasps, for that extra...

Pearls and Cameos - A Great Combination

My guess would be lava. Cameos in lava stone were common in the area around Naples and some were high relief. The lava stones vary in colour from a pale cream to dark black. http://www.cherubantiques.co.uk/200_150_csupload_53741737.jpg?u=366603501 https://www.shopbeetle.com/jewelry/black-cameo-ring

Please help! Are these real Tahitian pearls?

$70 would still be below cost if the settings are gold. For example, extra large 18k gold backs run around $80 at Otto Frei. http://www.ottofrei.com/Monster-Starbust-Design-Friction-Ear-Nuts?custcol_of_metal_types=1

    New Buyer. Where to begin?

Candle wax isn't that hot, though, as long as the pearls aren't that close to the flame (nearer the perimeter of a pillar candle for example). I think doing a few trial runs with inexpensive freshies would be worth a shot. My main worry is how the user is going to clean the wax off the candle...

Tahitian tin cup - vendor needed to use my pearls and make one

Have you considered reselling them at a discount? It may be a better alternative to sinking more money on pearls that aren't the best for you. Pearls don't usually have good resale value but a good strand of Tahitians from a trusted vendor may find a buyer. A lot of posters here check Loupe...

    Mixing Pearls With Other Stones

First, you need wire that is as close as possible to the diameter of the hole, so the glue isn't filling gaps. Then, put the tiniest dab of glue on the wire where pearl will be and slide the pearl over it. The glue should be placed at the furthest end, so the entire pearl slides over it. This...

    Tenjo Grade?

Is aurora a relatively new terminology? I have always heard and used orient. Having two terms for the same phenomenum seems only to add confusion to a market that is already obscure to most people.

    Tenjo Grade?

Ask him who is issuing this grade. I did a quick google search and found nothing. Well, a lot of anime but no pearls.

    Baroque Tahitians?

I hate to disappoint people, but I am the least fabulous person in the world. I am pretty much of a frump. But I am happy with my frump and pearls.
