I think I will just do this with the next ones: DELETE them. But these posts are also valuable in case some unsuspecting person -potential buyer- looks for info about a "ginormous pearl" they are being offered and then they find our threads and Bazinga! they become informed and avoid the scam...

Yes, but as an example: Cortez Keshi pearls are more valuable than Cortez beaded pearls...on a gram per gram basis. It would make more sense to grow Keshi pearls than cultured beaded pearls there, since the pearl oyster species is so small and its pearl sac so restricted.

Hi there 1966Lulu. Hard to say with these photos...but lemme give it a try. 1. First pair looks like SSPs, but I don't know if I am seeing something similar to an imitation pearl, near the drill hole area. 2. Guessing photo 2 and 5 are the same? Same box, shape & pendant style? Could be SSPs...

I would recommend you invest in selling jewelry, alongside unset pearls. Invest little, sell it and then reinvest the money in having more jewelry products. Some settings (rings) involve more metal (gold, silver) so maybe you would start with small pendants, bracelets, earrings and necklaces in...

I agree with Jeremy. The dark ones...I just could not see them as pearls at all, but I believed the photos were so bad that they just didn't seem like pearls. Those Quahog samples shared by Jeremy are what we all understand as Quahog pearls.

These are gorgeous! It would be great to see a pearl farmer going this way and producing keshi pearls.

Getting tired of these "Giant Clam Pearl" posts. I mean...it's just so darn easy to discern a true pearl from a piece of shell.

Hi there @Robby Russell and welcome to our forum. Nice catch with these Quahog pearls. The light colored ones seem well photographed, but the dark ones seem to have too much light, which may make them look much darker and have them lose their more subtle features. You can try and photographing...
