Need advices on an undecided Mabe pearl purchase

I believe -truly- that what we like is something unique to each. Someone may tell you that one kind of item is magnificent (and it may be, from a technical viewpoint) but one may find something different to be more exciting. Meaning: are you beer or wine? Dog or cat? beach or mountain? It's all...

    Pearls from the Victorian period

I agree with @BWeaves The round pearl might also be an Akoya pearl, but hard to distinguish from the photo.

Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

I would glue it to my forehead if I had no other way of using it. Just kidding...you gotta show us the final piece once you have it made. Best to use it for a pendant if you slam your rings too much, as you state.

    Should i get these tested?

Just make sure you ask for the appraisal cost BEFORE you have them appraised. You might not like to hear that the necklace is actually worth far less than the appraisal cost! Best if you can find a friend to help you take better photos first.

Help, inherited pearls - Blue Akoya?

I remember my mom took her pearls out in 1994, to show them to me since that is when I started in pearl culturing. She had this strand she said was black but looked just like yours. Hard to say...you know how memory works: oftentimes it just doesn't! Perhaps they had always been that same...

Help, inherited pearls - Blue Akoya?

I agree- Those are "blackened" Akoya pearls. My mom's blackened Akoyas became this same hue after a couple of decades of usage.

    Help Identify Pearl Necklace

I believe those are Akoya pearls as well...some have very good luster, but I also noticed some heavy blemishes on many of the pearls.

    I'm Drowning in Pearls!

Hi @AMR41 I am more into pearls, so I will pass on ID of the clasps...but it would be helpful if you could provide any stamping on these...they look like silver to me, but they might be gold (at least the ones that don't look tarnished).
