    So, the color purple is mainly "pigment" based? Carotenoid? This would be the case of Melo melo & Conch pearls...their colors are pigment based.

    Yes, its a bad photo due to the background...it will wash away many features of the pearls. It looks like a lovely necklace, but not gray and still look like FWP to me.
