    Family Ring with a Pearl

It is impossible to say with any certainty, but the style of the setting makes me think it is antique, a pearl set in gold (testing would be needed to determine karat). It is a sweet, simple style. Could be pretty old - possibly Victorian, in which case it could be set with a small natural...

Reputable source for a replacement gem quality pearl?

Pearl Paradise would be one good source. You can check their website for loose pearls. Although they seem to sell pearls in sets of four, if you contact them directly they would probably be happy to work with you. Or maybe you will decide to get a pair of earrings to complement the ring...

Abalone Blister Pearls - natural or cultured?

The abalone pearls like those in your ring are natural. Cultured abalone pearls are a fairly recent development. As far as I know, the only abalone pearls being cultured are coming out of New Zealand, using the paua species, a smaller species with intense blues and greens. I had the pleasure...

Help Please. Could these be south sea pearls?

The seller's response about the metal troubles me. If they are unmarked regarding karat, I suspect they might be plated base metal. Based on the size and color, my guess would be akoya, though they don't have the sharp luster one might expect. I look forward to hearing from those with more...

    What are these?

Art is hugely subjective when it comes to pricing. The value is more in the piece as an art object, rather than the materials used. Something is "worth" whatever someone is willing to pay...
