Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

Jeg, your sells are delightful! I've also drilled some shells recently, and wow were they difficult. Too thin and the shell cracks; too thick and you're drilling for days. I've actually contemplated using a pearl drill bit on the thicker shells. Diamond drill bits work well, for sure. ETA: Love...

Red, those earring jackets/dangles are amazing. It looks like the stones have been carved to create a teardrop shape in the original stone. Very very difficult lapidary work there.

    Help

I would add that an earring post isn't what you want to use to mount the bezel on the surface. You'd want to use a pearl peg. You can make one yourself by using square stock wire and twisting it. On the mounting, keep in mind how deep the bezels will need to be. If you're using cab stones, you...

    "The KJM Collection" - Andrew's Mom's Pearls

I actually prefer the NWH strand to the Miki AAA strand. What I notice more than anything in the photos is the pinked color of the Mikis.

Need help stringing Tahitian and black spinel bead necklace with Beader’s Secret

If you use a 49 strand wire, it should be supple enough for the peaks and valleys, however, the key is to get the tension just right on the stones. Too tightly strung and they will maintain a stiff U (if they don't chip and/or crack). I suggest that you experiment with how much slack to use to...

Need help stringing Tahitian and black spinel bead necklace with Beader’s Secret

I would definitely do this on wire. Keep in mind that it does come in different diameters from .10mm to ginormous. You want to make sure the crimps you use are appropriate for the wire size. Most wires have a notation on which crimps will work. I think Bella or Gempacked also sells wire in...
