    natural pearls

Venturing an oppinion here - 1 and 3 look very new. As Douglas says, the other pieces may or may not be old. I personally love the look of the #4 earings but is that a drilled hole in the both pearls at the top? In any case, those two look like cultured baroque pearls. And if I was you, I...

    Necklace with sapphire beads

It's a little puzzling to me that one would use such expensive rondelles (assuming the stones are real, not lab created and the metal is solid) with rpretty standard FW pearls. Maybe it's from a time when these pearl were more rare than they are today and most FW pearls were potato shaped. But...

    Loose tahitian pearl

You may want something really awesome for a ring or pendant rather than a random pearl you've been offered :-) There is a lot of focus on a solitair - especaillay as a ring where you get to enjoy it all the time. As for the bracelet, you can try look at blue Akoyas on the vendor's website to...

Our pearls are a mystery. Can someone help solve this for my mom.

The jeweller may be able to tell you of the pearls are real or imitation but not if they are Mikimoto. I recommend trying to learn how to tell the difference yourself, though. Also, restringing doesn't have to be expensive. You can learn to do it yourself. Many of us do. There are tutorials here...

    The start of my collection

I recommend checking out the tags on the posters here as well as where people got their pearls from in the "Show us Your Pearls in Action" thread.

Buying a pearl strand in an auction?

Apart from the online vendors you probably already get newsletters from, you might want to follow Cees on Instagram and also keep consider Pearlessence (Wendy). And now you know more about what pictures to ask for plus check the return policy.

Buying a pearl strand in an auction?

Settling never seems to be a good idea. You will not be happy, keep looking and find one that you can't afford because you bought this one. If it was super cheap, maybe. But it isn't.

Buying a pearl strand in an auction?

I am a little concerned about what the colors actually look like. The image looks a little processed to me. Since they have the pearls physically, I would ask for additional photos of someone wearing them or a video chat where you can see them - at least at that price.

    Please help with pearl identification

That's why you need to look at the ones that actually sold. But, of course, some of the ones sold could be scams. And I see you got help to settle the amount :-)

    Please help with pearl identification

If you want to know what a strand can sell for, looking at SOLD on eBay for similar items will give you a general idea.

When many pearl sellers use the same stock of photos

It's always a good idea to ask for pictures of the exact piece you are considering buying. Add that you would like to see it both in artificial and outdoor light. If they can't provide that, I wouldn't buy from them - in case of stock photos.

Man in pearls. Bollywood megastars marry.

Not sure how it works with celebrity weddings but I know that for normal weddings, where both still need to be bedecked by gold, the gold is often plated versions. Few can afford to buy a full wedding set in 22K gold. So I would guess the pearls are freshwater - if they are real.

No stamp on clasp need help identifying

Clasps are usually by some maker of clasps and often have nothing to do with the pearls. It looks like a standard ball clasp. It's not possible from the pictures to see if the pearls are Akoya, freashwater or imitation. If the clasps are gold it probably isn't imitation. Used pearls do not have...

Blue Grey Pearls? What kind are these?

If any pearls came naturally in that kind of blue, everyone would want them :-) They do look pretty. I've been through two attempts of buying a strand of blue akoya. They are much more silver than blue. Even the best that I've seen here do not have that deep blue. Instead the best have a...

I love these clasps-what are they called and other questions?

I can't use vermeil. It wears off super fast. I avoid gold plated for the same reason. Gold filled works well for me.

    Help with type of pearls…

Another sign that they are Akoya :-) They are traditionally pinked.

    Clasp help

Very nice clasps! I'd get some plain silver jumprings in a larger diameter.

    Help with type of pearls…

I'm guessing baroque Akoya. I don't see any freshwater signs.
