New beader and pearl obssesionista in town... needing your help :-)

Oh, Eolian, these are so pretty! Tanzanite is one of my favourite stones. Love the pairing of the green and metallics. . Definitely a good day for necklaces, if not for bracelets :)

    De-Stash Project - Stash Bash

Ooh, pretty! I love the Candy colour thread, and that centre Tahitian is a beauty. It looks great on you. I’ve been knotting so much I’m getting a blister, but now I want to make something with pink thread...

Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

Today I’m in vintage cashmere which probably dates from the late 50s or early 60s. I don’t think it can ever have been worn or washed, because the neckline and cuffs are unstretched, and the colour is INSANELY bright (cashmere obviously deserves its reputation for taking dye really well). It...

Advice on thread colour with pondslime pearls

I’m not so edgy as Pattye, so in the end I went with Bronze :) As it happens, you can hardly see the knots on most of the pearls because of the erratic shapes. I made the strand three times - first time it was too short; second time with some added pearls it was too long; third time was just...

Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

New pondslime ripples, made into a matinee-length necklace with the addition of a few spare pearls from a dismantled Catherine Cardinelli strand. Here’s the CC strand before I broke it apart. The CC strand was one of my first pearl purchases, but I never wore it much - it was a bit too dainty...

    Gemandpearlover's Lowly Beading Adventures

What beautiful strands. I like all-nacre pearls for their durability, and these ones are wonderfully round. I do like Catherine Cardellini’s pearls - such a nice size and lustre.

Advice on thread colour with pondslime pearls

Thanks everyone. I might do some trial knotting on a few different colours today. Pattye, black is an intriguing option - thanks for sharing your wonderful punk pearls, you dangerous rebel :)

Jeg, you are on a creative tear with those wonderful earrings. Soon you will need to start an Etsy store - I’ll buy the long SS danglies :) Gemandpearl, the colours of those Tahitians are glorious. Bweaves, I like all the white pearls for summer - I don’t own many white pearls (my pearl funds...

    My small pearl rainbow

Hi Azra. Your pearl collection is beautiful. You have some wonderful drop and baroque shapes, and the blues are gorgeous. Those golden studs are a rich, interesting colour.

Advice on thread colour with pondslime pearls

I’ve just received some pondslime ripples from Wen. I’m very pleased with the pearls - they’re just what I was looking for - but would appreciate advice from the pearl experts here on what colour Beaders Secret to use. I have Bronze (which I think Pattye might have sent me as a bonus to trial...

Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

Looking through my latest pearly photos, I’ve realised just how much purple-pink is in my winter wardrobe. Plum-coloured cashmere and heavily ringed Tahitian and freshwater pearls today.

Thanks for the kind comments, everyone. Bweaves, I like the play of shapes in that combo - the way the sharp angles and little button keshi are repeated in each piece really pulls the whole look together.

Dubai Gold Souk - 2019 Pearls

Wow! Lots of gorgeousness there! Not sure a lot of it would be suitable for every day wear, but I’d love to try some of it on. Thanks for sharing the pics.

    My pearls

Fabulous new earrings, Charlotta, and your kitten sounds so clever! That last photo is funny and an excellent example of the range of pearls available and just how much volume is added by a few mm difference in circumference.

Knotty problems finishing an endless necklace

It looks from that picture like you might be stringing from the pendant - but maybe that’s the original break before it was restrung? I’d start at the opposite side of the necklace (the section that will be behind the neck) just in case the final knots look a bit different or you can see where...

And here is a better picture of the pearls which shows their true lustre. They’re a bit more pink in real life - closer to the colours in the photo above. I recently restrung them on Rose Beaders Secret (thanks Pattye), which looks so much nicer than the original white.
