Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

86C, those are gorgeous - I can see why you treasure them. Eolian, I really like white t’s. They have a silvery cast to them and a different luster somehow to white SS or freshwaters. I look forward to seeing your earrings one day.

After looking at all the AMAZING Russian headdresses on another thread, these look incredibly minimalist, but these are my most-worn pearls - probably because they’re so minimalist and go with everything. These are white Tahitians.

    Help shopping?

^ I agree with KarinK. Pearls are addictive, and it’s easy to end up spending lots on cheap items and then wish you hadn’t. The advice I would give my past self (and sometimes even now that I know better :) ) is to be patient and save for something nicer.

Jeg, what fun, summertime jewellery. I admire your dainty wire wrapping. 86C, congratulations on your anniversary! Akoyas always look so elegant against black. Freshwater earrings today. Kongs pearls set on CZ findings from Etsy. If anyone has any tips for taking ear selfies, I’d be glad to hear...

    Opera length lavender freshwater strand

Cees, there is a conversation about Li’s pearls in another thread that you might find interesting. It includes a photo of a smashed pearl showing the nucleus - https://www.pearl-guide.com/threads/new-lavender-purple-baroque-strand.12976/ I cannot claim to be an expert, but agree that...

Purple today. I can’t persuade it to show up in photos, but the purple overtone on this pearl looks wonderful against this sweater IRL.

    New member :) And a question :)

I bought a couple of dyed pieces when I first became interested in pearls, and I really enjoyed wearing them. I don’t wear them as much any more, not because I have anything against dyed pearls, but because as I learnt more about pearls, I came to realise that my dyed pearls weren’t great...

I just love pendants, and Walter who is a special one. That’s a great chain, too. Jeg, love the pink and rainbow pearls with the chartreuse dress. I’m going for texture today - ripple necklace with a pendant made from my favourite bicoloured pearl from the same strand. The iridescence of the...

Katbran, I do hope that the pearl companies don’t manage to eliminate the drop shapes - those are my favourites! Especially the smooth, fat drops. I know the strand I just posted is round, but it’s an outlier in my small collection. But I have to admit I’ve been on the lookout for colourful...

So many treasures on this thread! Too many to mention them all, but a couple that really stood out for me are Jeg’s outstanding blues with the Monili clasp, which is one of my all-time favourite PG strands (with BN’s mega Golay strand and peacock rikiteas, and a couple of Bezel-set SOC mabe...

Wondering if these are Australian SSP

Agreed. Quite possibly south sea pearls and the luster looks nice, but with rings and those irregular shapes, not worth the price she is asking.

So many lovely pearls! 86C, you must have been the most glamorous person at the grocery store! Jeg, love your latest seashell earrings. Bweaves, the freshwaters look wonderful with that lilac/mauve linen. And G&P, I laughed and laughed but was also slightly alarmed by the idea of you wielding...

Advice on thread colour with pondslime pearls

Thanks everyone. They are surprisingly lovely pearls and I am really enjoying wearing them. GemandPearl, well spotted - it is a magnetic clasp. It’s a base metal which was once gold-coloured, but has now tarnished to a bronze-y shade that’s an excellent match for the pearls. I lost half the...
