Inherited pearls - can anyone help??

"Curious/interested Did you find someone to evaluate your pearls and are you going to sell them? " Indeed! If they are indeed Mikimoto circa 1972 and the nacre is as rich as the photo indicates they will be worth in the several thousands. I have just had a double strand of AAA Mikimoto I...

    Gold with lemon diamonds

Natural yellow diamonds are quite rare - would these be colour-treated? It is a GORGEOUS setting! Really makes the pearl look like an orb of gold!

    The Queen of pearl wearers?

QE2s hats are fantastic - she always dresses amazingly. She is TINY though - I saw her in real life three times in Australia last year - I wish I had noticed her pearls, but her wonderful face and personality totally overwhelm everything else about her. I read somewhere that one of her strings...

Freshwater Pearl + Sapphire & Gold Double-Strand Necklace

What a beautiful lustre - I like the way you've only used the spacer beads between the sapphires, and left the pearls next to each other. Makes for a much nicer look design-wise!

    One Crazy Mikimoto Strand!

I LOVE the "Kojima pearls are always tested on animals" pic on the page! Too funny! Check it out!

    One Crazy Mikimoto Strand!

Ha ha J Shepherd ... considerate of you to forewarn us that they were "sold" in brackets in your post ... in case one of us might have been in the running to acquire them and would have been disappointed at missing out! : ]

A puzzle - balancing ethics and profit.

I so agree- it just wouldn't be worth being dishonest for any saving. I wouldn't be able to stand the shame if Customs busted me underdeclaring! I had a seller underdeclare a few weeks ago and I still declared the full amount. Partly my conscience and I have to admit partly my sheer fear of...

Need Details on White Pair & Black Pair of Pearl Earrings

I disagree that they're Trifari & goldtone - the quality and finish is so much nicer. Those settings look like worked gold to me. I wonder whether the black is onyx or obsidian, and the pearl pair are real pearls? Interestingly, I have a Victorian pin that is 13k gold - but the "sapphire" is...

1924 pearl necklace from Niagra Falls

Connie - don't pay money to a jeweller to have them looked at - they are definitely imitation. They're pretty - keep them for their sentimental value!

    Akoya lovers ... your thoughts?

I have no idea why - but I prefer the smaller ones! Maybe it's the lovely knotting!

What an Ebay pearl buyer needs to know~

I'd advise buyers to be careful of pearls in "Mikimoto boxes" - I keep seeing empty Miki boxes for sale on ebay! People are paying $20 for them ... so they must have an on-sell context!

    pearl stringing price

Sigh - I have bought a two-strand Mikimoto necklace recently, unbelievable nacre and freshly restrung ... strangely, though, they rest oddly when worn as though there's a pearl missing from the longer strand, they kind of clash with each other. I purchased them from a reputable dealer, so I'm...

Need info on this Mikimoto pearls necklace

Hi Dzx they look nice, and the clasp is lovely, but even with the moderate photo quality they don't look to have the luster to be high-quality Mikimoto - so yes, likely to be the less pricey Blue Lagoon. : )

Help! I am boring and have no nose!

ha ha! Too cute! Just "nostrils" would probably do the trick?

Inherited La Tausca Pearls from my grandma, what year are they? What are they worth?

Hi raiderlove, I read that they are "semi-cultured" - so the blurb isn't exactly lying - very thin nacre on barely cultured pearls is supplemented with "pearlization". Could that be correct I wonder? Did the jeweller authenticate the diamond in the clasp?

    Please Don't Judge Me - I know I have a Pearl Problem

Besides the pearls - which are all gorgeous - the gold filigree element in the pendant in your first photo is unusual and truly lovely.

    Paspaley e-boutique

I'm going to be a bit of a contrarian here - I've watched Paspaley's marketing campaign over the last 15 years. It has been one of the most intense PR campaigns I have ever witnessed. Their jewellery designs aren't actually outstanding IMO. Interestingly, they have clearly invested a LOT of...

Is there help with a pathetic photo?

Welcome Andrea! Is there a brand name in the box?

Looking for any information on this pearl necklace...are they genuine pearls?

I think that "semi baroque" is a trick of the light, the reflection, and one of the dimples in the paper towel. I think that one is round like the rest. TThey have a beautiful lustre. I hope they are real!

Akoya studs for my 7month old--what size??

Do little ones have special studs that they can't remove? Their little hands could presumably undo normal studs ... this is news to me - I didn't know infants ever had their ears pierced! Does the piercing spot stay in the same place relative to the earlobe for life? e.g. if it's right in the...
