Oh, another question... I've been reading that many of "grandma's" pearls are often fake. Why? Is it because they wouldn't have lasted this long? or because the supply was low back then?

It's me again with another question. So... after reading on the forums, I've come to learn that freshwater pearls will last longer than akoyas. Is this right? If I plan to buy pearls that I can eventually hand down to my daughter, should I be looking at freshwater instead of akoya? It seems...

The seller did add a revision to the bottom of his listing, but it still says 7mm at the top... JS: is it common for faux pearls to have a 14K clasp? I was wondering why they would go through the trouble of using real gold on fake pearls. thanks.

There's a strand of pearls that I'm interested in, and it's advertised 16" 7mm necklace. The seller said there are 68 pearls in total. If the strand is 16" long (406 mm) and each pearl is 7mm, is it possible that there are 68 pearls in total? thanks
