That will have to wait. I am in Houston and she is DC. But we will definately have to at some point. She hasn't received hers yet put she is giddy too. I think I may have turned her towards pearls.

    Way to go PP!!!!

Ok, I folded on trying to link to an online album. But here is a quick photo of the Sasha necklace. (yes, taken at work with a cell phone so I apologize for the poor quality) I do think this is going to become one of my favorites.

    Another question about pearls

Oh, please bring more. I am learning so much from this. As for vintage, they do look costume (yet good quality) to me. I know little about pearls but I have hung around the antique store jewelry counter enough to recognize these. :)

    Way to go PP!!!!

I got mine today! I recently joined this board, read this thread, saw the pearls, then....well, you know how it ends. Anyway, I picked these up for my sister and I. Growing up we always got matching gifts. Hers was blue and mine was red. So these were a must have for us. There are also...

I'm new here. Have a question about Ebay

I know everything in Manila had that clasp. Ok, so what I am hearing is that spotting would be one indicator of thin nacre?

Mk4972 - I am learning so bear with me. I see the spotting you refer to but how did you know it was not an Akoya?

    I am soooo hooked....

I do have a question. I did not use wax, would that have made my knots any smaller? Also, I got my first commissioned project! My 12-year old son asked me to make his 'girlfriend' a bracelet for Valentines day. I have at least one fan. :)

    I am soooo hooked....

I used two strands of silk E thread based upon a recommendation of Caitlin's in a previous note. The woman at the bead store tried to get me to use a single thread method and I kept saying no I wanted the other thread so I could get tighter knots. At least I sounded knowledgeable.

    I am soooo hooked....

I know, I know, my craziness is already setting in. My boss mentioned a business trip to Manila and all I hear is pearl markets and can I fit a side trip in to China. In the meantime I am just trying to get the lay of the land. Places to buy pearls, threads, clasps, etc. It is a whole...

    I am soooo hooked....

Thank you for the welcome. This sight seems very open and that's why I like it. Not to mention that all of you will be my enablers in the future. (Or at least that is what I am going to tell people. ;) )

    I am soooo hooked....

I recently came back from my second trip to Manila and have officially become addicted to pearls. A couple of weeks ago I discovered this forum and decided to give creating my own necklaces a try. I went to a local shop and got some starter pearl beads for a necklace. Here is the product of...
