Hi, thank you for your insight. The knots in between the ones near the neck is very likely to be a Japanese knotting style and it is normal. It is needed to seal the strand. The thread comes back a few (usually 3) pearls at the end of the knotting process.
OK, to follow up, I tested mine and their quality stands. I do not have a 750 clasp one but both my vintage necklace and modern necklace by Mikimoto have that kind of font that is different from the 750 series. I also found that my floating pearl necklace by Mikimoto uses 14K gold (I purchased...
By the way, I also recently bought this modern Mikimoto floating necklace directly from Japan. It uses 14K gold. I think the American market is more saturated with vintage Mikimotos so there are not many variations. But in Japan's boutique stores, there are tons of pearl variations. Mikimoto...
To follow up after years, I found that Mikimoto does have 14K clasps... I saw someone posting their restringing service at Mikimoto store and there was a 14K option. I'd suggest to look for the M hallmark in oyster shape instead. I found some posts on this forum claiming that they found fake...
recently I purchased two Mikimoto necklaces. One of them is pretty modern and the previous owner got it back in 2013 from the boutique store (modern packaging too and she took a picture of her comparing different strands back in the store), and for the other one, I do not know about the year but...
yeah I think it is a Mikimoto. Mikimoto actually has lots of designs and more in their boutique store. their metal quality is not so great but the pearls are. and they also sell freshwater pearls, rice pearls etc. etc. The hallmarks look genuine to me.
Hi Amti, why do you think the clasp is a fake? I have one that is in silver and signed SIL. I was told that it is a modern Mikimoto because the previous owner got it from the store back in 2013. Everything looks same besides the material engravement and so does the font.
I checked my Mikimoto necklaces just now. Honestly speaking I am very nervous right now but I found that all my Mikimoto necklaces (I do not have a 750 clasp one, only the silver clasps) have the M font different than yours. I doubt that the vintage one's clasp is fake, I think maybe the 750...
I have several Mikimoto necklaces from vintage to modern. Just checked the hallmarks and even the vintage ones have the M hallmark that looks like yours. But the engravement of the metal purity is a bit clearer than yours too. I think those 750 ones might use a different font with the M.
