    Black Akoyas...

They do look a bit like that, yes. If you want that multicoloured or black = dark blue or dark green or dark aubergine look then that would be freshwater as far as I know

    Black Akoyas...

Black akoya do tend to be black while black freshwater are usually anything but black - it is how the dye works

Need help identifying/valuing an unusual pearl please.

It looks to me like several pearls have been glued together. You can see a silvery line in the valleys which are joins which I am guessing is some sort of caulk, filler or glue.

PSA: FAKE Pearl Brand Scams, i.e. Manea Pearls, Marama Pearls on Instagram & Facebook

Always check the contact us and legals pages - where the fakers invariably give themselves away. This applies to any website, not just pearl related.

PSA: FAKE Pearl Brand Scams, i.e. Manea Pearls, Marama Pearls on Instagram & Facebook

'Tahitian freshwater luxury pearl' It seems risible to us because we know that this is nonsense but to the average would-be buyer it may well be credible. <sigh> The legal information page is particularly indicative of a scam. They haven't even bothered to fill in the blanks in the template

Did I buy a fake Mikimoto necklace?

The knotting is not great quality, very wispy, but that could be a bad re-string WG is not me.

What’s the difference, where to get? Oysters.

Oysters of all species are a bit like sheep, they just hang around until they find a way to die

Can this earring be fixed or does it need to be replaced?

Superglue - especially gel superglue - every time. Epoxy is just not reliable enough and does not have a dissolver. Superglue needs moisture to set btw

    Help identify this Pearl Ring

The pearl is not natural. It is a low quality freshwater pearl, inappropriately set. The silver is below commercial sterling 925 standard and not sellable at all in Europe as it contains nickel.
