    Quick Mikimoto question

Actually I love love the earrings (they were sold separately, I just matched them in the photo for comparison purposes). I didn't capture their luster in the photos. The pendant I am quite sure is fake because you can see gold between the pearls and the gaps are uneven to boot. I think the...

    Quick Mikimoto question

Taken just now in indirect sunlight. Apologies for my crummy iPhone XR camera, i honestly can't get the images sharper than this. Anyway, I am dumb, the more I look at this pendant. Also I don't know how to tell stamped from impressed from applied (any advice?) but I can tell whether the mark...

    Quick Mikimoto question

You guys are always so helpful, thank you very much! Does anyone else prefer the brooch that StarryPearl mentioned in post #5? I fear I am in over my head, I suspect I bought a fake Miki pendant already (pearls arranged in a circle, but the craftsmanship is not good). I also picked up a pair of...

    Quick Mikimoto question

Did Mikimoto ever spell out the full name as a mark? I'm looking at a brooch in sterling silver, pearls look high-quality and the back is signed "K Mikimoto Tokyo" and then there are the M and S marks. But I haven't seen it spelled out like that before and other brooches just have the M and S...

Stringing Tutorial with photos: Stringing on Serafil, Beaders Secret & Power Pro

You guys, I did it!! Thank you so much for the advice and help! I can't believe I made a necklace. I judge this not bad for my first finished attempt, although I'm sure I will want to restring it as soon as I do a few more projects and get better at this. I did do the knots by passing the long...

Stringing Tutorial with photos: Stringing on Serafil, Beaders Secret & Power Pro

This is a long shot, but has anyone ever seen a left-handed pearl knotting video? I'm left-handed and I'm amazed that I'm getting it so far, but it would be nice to see a tutorial that I didn't have to reverse. Back in the 1980s, my right-handed grandma tried to teach me crochet and it didn't...

    SSP vs FWP

Thanks everyone! I see no one is impressed with the strand, that's interesting. I was trying to sacrifice everything else to luster, but maybe I've just dipped too low in quality. Probably my freakout is a sign that I should return these...

    SSP vs FWP

PS: they were sold as 9-11 mm and while I don't have a calipers, they look a lot bigger than that, based on eyeballing against a pair of akoya studs that I know for a fact are 7.6 mm and a pair of drop earrings I am pretty sure were measured accurately at 9 mm.

    SSP vs FWP

Hi friends, I would love your assistance again. I bought this strand as South Sea circlé drop/baroque pearls from Continental Pearl, but the more I look at them, the more they look like freshies and I can't get it out of my head. I paid about $600 on account of them being circlé, but maybe I was...

Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

You know @BWeaves this is going back a post or two but I am loving your mismatched pistachio earrings! I feel like mismatched earrings is going to be a huge trend very soon. It took me a minute to get used to it but now I'm on board.

A short interview with Mr. Kiyoshi Yoneguchi of Seiwa Pearl - Lake Kasumi ga Ura

I deleted my question since this thread is to honor Mr. Yoneguchi and his beautiful pearls. I was just a little shocked to realize I had never actually seen Kasumi pearls until last night! Hoping to see at least a couple in person someday :)

    which Akoya pearl overtone?

@jeg those studs are gorgeous! It's great to see the different overtones lined up like that.

    which Akoya pearl overtone?

This thread continues! Thanks to the current 20% off sale (and redeeming my points!) I was able to order a pair of natural white hanadama earrings from Pearl Paradise. I think there's going to be a big color difference between this pair and the rosé hanadamas, and I can see the natural whites...
