My father bought this rope for my mother in the 70's shortly after they were married. He purchased it from an older woman who was a flapper in the 20's. I have no documentation, but my mother vividly remembers her - quite a character. My mother wore it a handful of times, but she was unsure how to wear them - years later she gave them to me! I wear them every possible way I can think of.

Here are images of the rope coiled around double hanadama studs in the center. The rope is much more yellow - maybe due to age? Did they process akoyas the same way they do today... maeshori, bleaching etc??

The small 7.5 mm Pearl on the double stud is a natural white hanadama Pearl. felt the size was too small, so I met at PP to match another large natural white hanadama to mount next to it. Strangely, the best match was a regular white hanadama! The double studs look much better on my ears!

Wow. That is some necklace! I love the earrings. Now we will need some kind of neck and ear shot! :)

That flapper rope is fantastic.

I would also love to see the earrings on your ears. That's a cool setting for a double pearl.

Thank you, GemGeek & BWeaves! I wear this rope soooo many different ways - the choices are as endless as it is long. I wore it as a bracelet a couple times!

The double hanadama studs are so versatile. My work takes me outdoors to many completed and incompleted project sites. And I always wear pearls!

More pictures to come..

I promise to forward pics of the ways I wear my rope, very soon. But I do have a picture of the hanadama double studs.
Sorry about the sideways pic... I'll try to fix

JersyPearl, my mother had them restrung, I might have a couple years left. I'm gonna search for the 100" rope thread - always searching for new ways to wear it.

Hmmm, cant figure out how to change rotate the pic...
Forgot to mention the smaller pearl is a natural hanadama, the larger is not. They were the best match, virtually no difference!

Thanks so much, Puranha... Wow that thread took Ingenuity and dedication, thanks for the introduction!! Some great ideas - I'll post a couple more examples.

I wear the double studs both ways. Usually during the day I wear the larger Pearl up, at night the larger Pearl dangles. I felt the small studs alone were too small for my lobes.

I really like your double stud. Wearing it up is very late 1960s, and I mean that in a good way. Very Mad Men. My grandmother had some dangle pearls, and she would wear them upside down just to get that look. My mother though Nana was nuts (well, she was, but) but the earrings actually looked kinda good that way, too.

LOL... BWeaves, Nanas can be that way sometimes, but they're usually right! I'll refer to these as my Mad Men studs!

Thank you, Pattye!

Finally I've had a chance to photograph a few ways I wear this rope. The possibilities are endless - these are only a few variations!

So, here there are - paired with tin cups, pins, pendants and SS strands...all 136 inches worth!!

WOW, that's just fabulous ... love the antique pieces mixed in! The pendant with the yellow stones, surrounded by pearls ... is that an enhancer? Did you add the enhancer bail, or did it come like that? I've been looking for an enhancer setting that would fit over a center pearl on a graduated necklace :)

Wwwwoooooo so LOVELY! All the combinations are awesome, and I particularly like the one mixed with the larger WSS and smaller pearl combo!
