My father bought this rope for my mother in the 70's shortly after they were married. He purchased it from an older woman who was a flapper in the 20's. I have no documentation, but my mother vividly remembers her - quite a character. My mother wore it a handful of times, but she was unsure how to wear them - years later she gave them to me! I wear them every possible way I can think of.
Here are images of the rope coiled around double hanadama studs in the center. The rope is much more yellow - maybe due to age? Did they process akoyas the same way they do today... maeshori, bleaching etc??
The small 7.5 mm Pearl on the double stud is a natural white hanadama Pearl. felt the size was too small, so I met at PP to match another large natural white hanadama to mount next to it. Strangely, the best match was a regular white hanadama! The double studs look much better on my ears!
